On our final day of TAG, we had a variety of activities to choose from. We worked on Rube Goldberg type inventions, learned about inventors on Brain Pop, created cartoons about the history of a favorite invention, or created new games and inventions.

Thank you 4th grade TAG students for the wonderful day. I loved your surprises today. As you saw, they even brought tears to my eyes. The framed class photograph, chocolates and handwritten letters from all of you made me feel very special and very loved. I will miss and remember every single one of you. Please remember empathy, compassion, and respect for all and to always do the right thing even when no one is watching. Love, Mrs. D'Amelio
Today was our last day of TAG class for second grade. Some of us put finishing touches on our myths from last week and some of us created paper slide videos of our myths. We had a good time working in teams of three to finish our projects.
Today we shared our animal research reports and photo stories with our parents and friends. We also opened up our zoo full of newly discovered (created) animals for visitors!
Today in class we learned about Rube Goldberg. He was a famous cartoonist and illustrator who lived from 1883 until 1970. We learned that Rube worked for a San Francisco newspaper for sixty years. During that time he became famous for creating cartoons that took a very simple task and turned it into something very complicated with many, many steps. We all tried our hand at creating our own Rube Goldberg. Check out how we did.
Today we read several myths about endangered animals and brainstormed what these myths had in common. Second graders then created their own myths and created images to go with them.
Students used clues and background information to solve the mystery of Mt. Everest. We also watched a video called Lost on Everest to see if we could find any additional clues to help us solve today's mystery.
We had a expert guest speaker today!
Mr. Ruan came to share his experiences as an inventor with our TAG class. We learned that inventors need to be curious, willing to work hard, be creative, learn from others and not give up. Inventors keep trying until they are successful! Mr. Ruan shared and demonstrated many of the unique light bulbs that he has invented. Mr. Ruan spent a lot of time answering our questions on patents, how he comes up with his ideas, when he became interested in becoming an inventor, and how his education helps him when he is thinking about and creating an invention. Our students were very impressed and engaged with the presentation. Thank you Mr. Ruan for your awesome presentation. Today we researched the history of some of our favorite inventions. After completing the research, the students created newspaper articles, comic strips, photo story documentaries, brochures or picture books to share the information they learned with the class.
We created our new plant Questivities today and turned our PIXIE pages of art and information into a class book. With the help of a green screen we were able to put ourselves on the page with our plant.
