How many books can paper in the shape of a pillar hold? Mrs. D'Amelio's students were able to stack 137 books on top of their pillar. We worked together today in teams of two and three. Doesn't it look like we had fun building different types of tubes from paper?

We began our unit with a lesson on advertising. After a brainstorm and class discussion about what people buy, we explored a variety of interesting advertisements.
This week we began our exploration of art movements with Cave Art. After learning about when, where and why cave art was created, we created some of our own. It is not as easy as it looks!
Today we took a look at the Oregon Trail and how it helped to change America. We looked at how frontier settlers, miners, prospectors, and railroad workers changed western America.
We started class off with a simulation game that helped us understand the meaning of interdependence.
First Grade TAGToday we finished our lesson on Pillars of Strength. We learned a lot about pillars and colums. We know that they are strong, even when they are made out of paper. Our paper tubes were able to support the weight of 92 books!
